A hand-painted dance floor inspired by blue and white European tiles drew immediate attention at a black-tie wedding held on the cliffside lawn of Montage Los Cabos. The dance floor’s pattern echoed the coastal setting, setting a cool, Mediterranean tone against the natural backdrop of the Sea of Cortez.
Claudia Morales planned the event with a clear vision of elegance paired with a relaxed, seaside atmosphere. Tables curved in serpentine shapes, dressed with white and ivory flowers arranged by Aria Vera Floral, framed the space. The florals flowed naturally, spilling over the edges and softening the sharp geometry of the tables. Above, sweeping blue drapery framed the band’s stage, tying in with the dance floor’s tile motif and giving the setting a cohesive feel without feeling overdone.
Rebecca Yale Photography, a Little Black Book member, documented the day, capturing moments from the ceremony through to the lively reception. The photos reveal a celebration that balanced formal style with open-air comfort, with guests moving easily from cocktails to dancing.
The evening ended with fireworks by Pyrotech lighting up the night sky, the bursts of color reflecting over the water after the cake cutting. The display was modest but bright enough to punctuate the night and give the celebration a distinct finale.
This wedding’s design choices, from the custom dance floor to the floral arrangements, suggest a trend toward personal and site-specific touches that fit naturally within a destination setting. It also shows how thoughtful decor can create a mood without crowding the ocean’s presence or the dramatic cliff views.
