Kyle’s proposal to Megan in Vail last July came with a surprise twist: he flew her siblings in from Texas to join the celebration. The unexpected family reunion set the tone for a wedding weekend that felt both intimate and full of joy. Less than a year later, Megan and Kyle said their vows outdoors at the St. Julien Hotel in Boulder, Colorado, with the Flatiron Mountains providing a scenic backdrop.
The couple worked closely with Lauren Vaccaro from Nicole Silver Events to bring their vision to life. Their wedding colors borrowed from the landscape itself—greens and whites with touches of brown. The floral arrangements, crafted by Snowberry Floral, played with this palette through a mix of dahlias, hydrangeas, chamomile, garden roses, and ferns, along with hanging amaranth and foxglove. The flowers gave the day a fresh, summery feel with a hint of retro mid-century style.
Megan’s dress for the ceremony was designed in-house by The Bridal Collection. Its structured boning and elegant neckline struck the balance she wanted: simple yet unique. When the dancing started, she switched into a two-piece corset and skirt from Anthropologie, a choice that let her move freely and added a second fashion moment to the evening. The bridesmaids followed a mismatched dress trend, each choosing their own green-hued gown. “I really wanted my girls to feel amazing walking down the aisle with me,” Megan said. Kyle and his groomsmen kept their look classic with black three-piece tuxedos from The Black Tux, accented by custom engraved cuff links matching Kyle’s wedding band.
The ceremony was officiated by Kyle’s brother-in-law, who is also one of their closest friends. This personal touch helped calm their nerves and made the moment feel relaxed and heartfelt.
Cocktail hour featured a playful nod to the couple’s personalities and their beloved cat, Lola. Kyle’s drink was a traditional Transfusion—a mix of vodka, grape, and ginger ale—while Megan preferred a spicy margarita. Lola even had her own cocktail, a Hugo Spritz, which appeared on custom napkins. The evening meal embraced Colorado’s farm-to-table trend with a four-course menu starting with freshly baked bread, a local produce salad, and a choice of steak, chicken, or salmon sourced within the state. The St. Julien Hotel’s tradition of a dessert tower delivered to each table rounded out the dinner.
The wedding cake was a family affair, baked by Kyle’s uncle Michael, whom Megan called a “renaissance man.” The cake combined white chocolate and raspberry flavors, decorated with fresh florals from Snowberry Floral. Michael also made themed cookies and cupcakes for guests to take home. Kyle said, “Having my uncle bake our wedding cake seemed like such an amazing way to include him. He’s brought so much to my life, having painted a mural in my childhood bedroom and now having made this amazing cake for us.”
Photographer Emily of Roaming Photo captured every moment, from the intimate first look to the lively reception. The day included a playful outfit change for Megan and plenty of dancing. The overall vibe matched the couple’s down-to-earth personalities and the unmistakable Colorado setting.
If you’re considering a wedding in Boulder, think about incorporating local flavors and personal touches like a family-baked cake or a mix-and-match bridesmaid dress code. It brings in personality and makes the day feel less staged and more like a celebration with friends and family.
