Guests arriving at Schloss Schadau in Thun, Switzerland, were greeted by the unexpected sound of Alpine horn players, who then formed a tunnel with their instruments for everyone to pass through on the way to cocktail hour. This moment set the tone for a wedding weekend that combined historic elegance with local tradition, all against the backdrop of Lake Thun and the Swiss Alps.

The couple, Garison and their partner, chose Schloss Schadau because it offered a stunning mix of lake views, mountains, and a historic castle, all in one place. Their vision was clear: an elegant, timeless, and romantic celebration that allowed the natural beauty of the venue to shine. The wedding unfolded as a multi-day event, inviting their closest friends and family to share in a place that holds deep personal meaning.

The proposal itself took place in September 2023 at The Don Cesar, a pink hotel in Florida beloved by the bride-to-be. It was a surprise moment followed by an intimate gathering of loved ones who had quietly flown in to join the festivities.

When it came to fashion, the bride found her ceremony gown during her very first bridal boutique appointment in Florida. The dress was a Maggie Sottero design featuring a drop waist ball gown silhouette, paired with a veil from Sara Gabriel. For the reception, she wore a custom dress by Milla Nova, a process made memorable by traveling to Milan with her mother for fittings. The groom wore a custom tuxedo from Suitsupply.

The ceremony featured personal vows officiated by a close friend, adding a layer of intimacy. A string quartet provided a mix of traditional and contemporary music, including a rendition of "Mamma Mia" and Lauv's "I Like Me Better" as the couple walked back down the aisle. Floral arrangements in soft ivory, blush, and champagne tones with touches of natural greenery framed the windows overlooking the lake. The ceremony’s floral installation was sweeping but allowed the lake view to remain the focal point.

Dinner was a classic Swiss-inspired menu with three different fillets—beef, veal, and pork—served with veal gravy and Béarnaise sauce. Instead of a traditional wedding cake, the couple opted for a candy bar and dessert buffet, reflecting their shared love of sweets.

The weekend’s events also included a rehearsal dinner at Schloss Oberhofen and a post-wedding stay at Riffelalp Resort above Zermatt, where the couple spent the week hiking and soaking in the mountain views.

The entire celebration was captured by Maïlys Fortune Photography and 579production for cinematography. Gienna Grieco of The W.Day handled event planning, while Andrada Muller Floral Design created the lush floral displays. DJ Guz provided music for the reception, and Sinem Yavsaner was responsible for hair and makeup.

This wedding at Schloss Schadau combined Swiss tradition with personal touches and classic style. The Alpine horns, personal vows, and the lakeside castle setting gave the event a distinctly local character, while the fashion choices and candy buffet added moments of modern flair. It’s the kind of celebration that feels like a story worth telling over and over.
