Efya, born Jane Awindor in Kumasi in 1987, rose to fame after finishing third on the first season of Stars of the Future in 2006 and went on to win the Ghana Music Awards’ Best Female Vocal Performance several times. On Valentine’s Day, reports claimed the pair had married in secret. Efya’s management clarified that the event was a knocking ceremony, the first formal step in a Ghanaian marriage, when the groom’s family visits to declare its intentions. In August, the couple appeared together at King Promise’s birthday celebration, which YEN.com.gh described as their first public appearance as a couple. They “looked polished and relaxed as they mixed with fellow celebrities”, the outlet reported.
4 November 2026: the bachelorette party
Days before the wedding, Efya celebrated with friends at a bachelorette party attended by Fantana, Hajia4Reall and Fella Makafui, YEN reported. The next day she shared regal photos with Tomi Thomas, captioned: “Some things are written in the stars. Others find their way underneath your skin… And so it begins.”
6 November 2026: the traditional wedding
The couple completed their customary marriage at a colourful ceremony in Accra. Efya wore a custom kente gown, Tomi Thomas wore kente and gold, and guests included Tourism Minister Abla Dzifa Gomashie and the Paramount Chief of Akuapem, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III. The groom summed it up: “I sent my parents with the marriage items because I want Efya as my wife.”
7 November 2026: the white wedding
