A guest arrives at a large hall and has no idea where to sit. The usher is busy. The seating chart is a crumpled piece of paper taped to a pillar. Good wedding signage solves small problems like this before they turn into queues and confusion.
The welcome sign
A welcome sign at the entrance tells guests they are in the right place. It usually shows the couple’s names and the date, sometimes with a greeting in a local language. It also makes a good backdrop for guest photos.
The seating chart
If you have assigned seating, display a clear seating chart near the entrance, arranged alphabetically by surname or grouped by table. Make it large enough to read from a distance. Have an usher stand nearby with a copy.
Table numbers and names
Every table needs a visible number or name. Some couples name tables after places that matter to them, such as Kumasi, Lagos or the school where they met. Whatever you choose, make sure the seating chart uses the same system.

Place cards
Place cards show each guest’s name at their seat. They are most useful for the high table and for formal dinners. For large receptions with hundreds of guests, table assignment without individual place cards is often enough.
Menu cards
A menu card on each table tells guests what to expect and lets those with dietary needs plan. It is optional but adds a polished touch, especially for a sit-down meal.
Programme booklets
Church ceremonies in Ghana often have printed programmes listing hymns, readings and the order of service. Make sure the programme matches what actually happens, and print enough copies for guests and the choir.
Direction signs
At large venues or outdoor weddings, simple signs pointing to the ceremony, reception, washrooms and parking prevent confusion.
Unplugged ceremony signs
If you want guests to put their phones away during the ceremony, a polite sign at the entrance helps. Ask the MC or officiant to repeat it.
Budget and design
Stationery can be expensive if every piece is custom printed. Choose a single design and font for everything so it looks coordinated. Acrylic, wood and printed boards can be hired or reused.
Most guests will not remember the font on the menu card. They will remember finding their table without a fuss, and that is what good signage is for.
