Bri hired Dom to sell men's clothing at Nordstrom in Southern California in the summer of 2017. She was overseeing the men's division. He joined her team. Five years later, he proposed at The Montage in Laguna Beach, betting she would never expect a proposal on their anniversary. He walked her down to the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean and got down on one knee.
The engagement that followed was not easy. Bri's father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer shortly after, and the couple put planning on hold while he underwent treatment. He beat it. They started planning after a two-year engagement. Then, seven months before the wedding, Bri's brother was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. He passed away 46 days before the couple said "I do."
The couple worked with Bonnie and Bliss Events to build the three-day celebration at Baja Luna in Cabo, photographed by Xico Gutierrez. The wedding became an opportunity to gather their people in one place. Bri said she had always wanted a full-service planner, but the circumstances made that support especially meaningful.
Bri and Dom chose a neutral palette that felt natural in Cabo but stayed classic. They went with espresso brown as the primary color, layering in greens and softer browns. They described the inspiration as a modern "old money" aesthetic. The deeper tones brought richness to the neutral palette without competing with the landscape.
Small details carried the theme. Instead of a traditional guest book, guests signed a deck of cards from Aimé Leon Dore. Custom vintage-inspired matchboxes doubled as favors. Wooden fans waited on ceremony chairs. Wooden cocktail stirrers at the bar featured Carmel, the couple's dog, who could not travel to Mexico. Custom napkins, coasters, and matchbooks added more personality.
The couple saved their favorite Carmel-inspired detail for the end of the night. As guests left the reception, they found a dish filled with custom brown tennis balls reading "With Love, Carmel." Bri and Dom wanted everyone to bring a piece of their dog home to their own pets.
Bri approached dress shopping without a predetermined idea. She chose the River gown by RISH Bridal, purchased at a&bé in Seattle. She paired it with Badgley Mischka Blaze pumps before changing into a 12th Tribe party dress later in the celebration. Dom wore a double-breasted dark green suit from Suitsupply with a French cuff dress shirt and Stacy Adams shoes. Later he switched into Marc Nolan loafers and a SuitShop shirt. His groomsmen wore SuitShop suits with Stacy Adams shoes.
Food was a highlight of the weekend. Cocktail hour opened with an Oyster & Chambong pairing that quickly became a favorite, alongside passed bites. The team made accommodations for dietary restrictions, including gluten-free empanadas for guests with Celiac disease. The La Luna, Baja Luna's take on a mango margarita, became one of the couple's signature cocktails and won over their guests.
More than any single dish, the couple remembers looking around and seeing everyone they loved gathered together. At one point during the reception, Bri and Dom sat at their sweetheart table taking in the scene, watching old friends connect and new friendships form.
The weekend began with a welcome party before the wedding day at Baja Luna. The following day, everyone reunited for a recovery pool party dubbed "The Love Club," complete with custom stirrers. The three-day structure gave guests time to experience Cabo and, more importantly, spend time together.
