This California couple redefined the concept of black-tie attire at their intimate home wedding, blending high-end elegance with a dash of whimsy.

Their love story began with a Fourth of July proposal in Lake Tahoe, where Eric staged a fake family photoshoot and popped the question. The bride-to-be, overwhelmed with excitement, tackled him to the ground before he could even get to one knee.

A Vibe That's Upscale and Casual

The couple's wedding vision was to create an "amusement park in a ball gown" experience, with a twist of upscale sophistication. However, they soon realized that some of their more out-of-the-box ideas, such as a Tower of Terror-like entry room, were cost-prohibitive. Instead, they focused on incorporating personal touches throughout the event, including a video message for their neighbors and a poem for each guest.

A Feast Fit for a King

The couple's food and drink menu was a reflection of their personalities, with a Chinese-inspired feast that catered to their favorite local restaurant. They worked with Betty Zlatchin and team to create a customized menu that included Chinese chicken salad, individual steam baskets with shrimp dumplings and potstickers, and a dual dish of black cod and short rib. The drinks menu was just as creative, with four specialty cocktails named after the couple and their colleagues.

A Speakeasy in the Backyard

To add an element of surprise, the couple created a secret espresso martini station, hidden behind a grey Dutch door in the pool house. Guests had to knock twice on the door to access the exclusive drink, which was a huge hit with the wedding party.

A Floral Masterpiece

The couple's florals and decor were a stunning reflection of their personalities, with a mix of white, yellow, pink, green, and purple flowers throughout the ceremony and reception. They worked with Flower Girl Em to create a beautiful chuppah and pergola arrangements, as well as centerpieces and bud vases for the tables.

A Wedding Cake That's Anything But Traditional

The couple opted for an unconventional wedding cake – an ice cream taco from Rocko's Tacos – which was a hit with their guests.

The couple's wedding was a true reflection of their personalities and love for each other. By incorporating personal touches and creative elements throughout the event, they created a truly unforgettable experience for their guests. As the couple continues to build their life together, they'll always look back on their special day as a celebration of their love and commitment to each other.
